Weekly Happenings

Well, I am not sure what exactly to say right now, I guess that i would like to fill you in on some the things that have been happening here so far as service/ work wise, and to fill you all in on what the typical day is like. Firstly, there really is no typical day, every day here seems to very on what happens. Some days im up before seven in the morning, and some days i am able to sleep past ten!! Everymorning i have devotions for a half hour more or less to prepare for my day. In terms of things to do, lately i have been attending classes, or small group sessions with the rest of the american group here. All of these classes focus on SIM (Intensive Mission Seminary) and PMP (the Pategonia Mission Project). The small group meets usually at Ten in the morning, but sometimes we have met at eight a.m. as well. After that, i go home, which now only takes about ten minutes or less on my "new" bicycle instead of twenty walking. Breakfast is at noon, and after that i have time to help out with the things that my parents ask me to. Around one or two when everyone else is taking a siesta -which is my backup option- I make about a litre of hot water and sit and drink yerba mate while i read and pray for my afternoon devotions. Around five or so, the rest of the family is awake and we have lunch. Afterwards there is a wide variety of options to do, i can go to the river with friends, check my email, read some more, help with other things around the house, visit with brothers and sisters from the church, and or go to whatever church activity is going on. Usually when i hav church in the evenings, it does not start until eight or eight thirty in the evening, and isnt over until ten or so. Usually if the youth have something going on afterwards, i fulfill my duty as a youth and hang out with them until about midnight or so. If not, i come home for supper, which is usually at eleven. afterwards i am in bed around twelve thirty or one in the morning or whenever i finish my bedtime devotions. Sometimes there are service projects in the day. So far, i have helped finish the construction of a friend's pool, worked with my church in making booths for their fundraiser, and in an atempt to help spread the christmas cheer sung "what child is this" with a friend in our church's xmas program. This coming week is a work week in which a team from the united states is coming down to help us with the continued construction of a church in the small darwin during the morning-noontime. I look forward to the coming week of work and cannot wait to post more about it. The final piece of work that is still continuous is the long task of building relationships w pple here, and just looking for ways to serve people here. It is hard because i dont have a schedule at all really, we have to be intentional about finding ways to help. Right now i am working at improving at helping my family, and learning from them so i can use some of those things later on in my time spent here. It is very different trying to help someone when they speak another language and i am still working at understanding what others say. But things are coming along steadily.
